I was never a serious elk hunter until I met Ben. Although I've known Ben for many years, it wasn't until we went elk hunting together that I realized how good he was. There are many facets of a true elk hunter. His spacious wall tent keeping us warm at night; his stubborn mules ready to pack out our game; his extensive knowledge of hunting gear a necessity for success; his experience in the woods recognizing animals and habitat; and most of all his ability to find elk and harvest bulls.
Ben always does his homework and is ready for the hunt. This particular hunt was no different. The afternoon before the hunt we spent time looking at topography maps and he says "I think there will be elk in that spot". The next day was a typical cold, crisp morning. As we began hunting we took the route to the location identified on the map and he says "| know they are here". In no time at all and to my amazement, we were soon in the middle of a large herd of elk.
Ben was coaching me the entire time as the cows were mixed with the bulls and just at the right moment a nice bull was harvested. Ben's hunting skills are even better after the kill. He can skin and dress an elk quickly and with his mules the pack out was a snap. My experience with Ben was awesome. If you are looking for someone who can assist you in preparing for a hunt and scouting for a hunt, Ben is your guy.

In the fall of 2018 Ben let my Dad and I tag along with him on an elk hunt in Eastern Oregon.
Our family had hunted deer throughout the years but never elk until that year. We were new at the game and had no experience what so ever. We knew Ben had a knack for finding elk because he spends a lot of his free time up in the woods scouting and enjoying the outdoors.
Little did we know it would be the hunt of a lifetime!!
Ben has the uncanny ability of knowing where to find elk. On the second day while observing a map, he pointed to a spot and said "this looks like a good spot for elk". Low and behold Ben and Dad got into them the following day in the exact spot he pointed at and they were able to harvest a nice ragged bull. The next morning Ben and I glassed a draw for a few hours. Ben spotted a big 6 point bull briefly down in the draw that morning. We glassed for a few more hours but did not see him again. Ben knew the bull wouldn't leave the draw therefore planned on coming back that evening to see if we could spot him again. Ben spotted him right before sunset and helped me get set up for the perfect shot. I'm pretty sure Ben was just as excited as I was when he saw the bull drop.
My success was his success. It was a once in a lifetime bull and ended up scoring a 330. To be honest, my favorite memory of the hunt wasn't the size of the bull, but the little things that led up to the big bull. The time spent in the woods with good friends and the camaraderie made with everyone that helped pack him out. Ben was instrumental in the whole hunt from start to finish. He is very good at reading and knowing maps, has spent a lot of time in many different units and areas and knows the rules and regulations which is important for big game hunts. He is a genuine friend and expert in the field and I would highly recommend his services to anybody.

Helping me achieve success, and advising on long rang shooting, I am beyond happy. The accommodations were just right with food and snacks and great conversation.
